Perhaps I am behind the internet by a few weeks, but Chat Roulette entered my life. There is a certain amount of trepidation with which I approach this technology. When I approach a stranger in real life, there is an acknowledgment and a nonverbal communication that cannot be replicated online.
This coupled with the astoundingly fast speed this technology found the lowest common denominator is quite a marvel.
One of my main focuses and mindshare over the past few weeks has been working on an integrated marketing strategy. While moving around the tubes, I found the video below.
Some of the ideas are not tied to a product, but it is a great example of thinking differently and has my creativity on an upswing. I hope it does the same for you.
Having been in the internet works and transacted well over 100,000 transactions, I have found a big problem with online and accounting. No accounting system I have found integrates well with traditional computer accounting systems.
While accounting was one of the first things that was automated by computers, web software in my estimation has not handled this data well. While there are huge systems that cost hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to integrate with extensive accounting, there is a hole in the market for smaller companies. If you are looking to work with the large systems, give my friend Tom McFayden a call, but I am not at that level right now.
My current customer relationship management (CRM) system for CityCentric is FatFree CRM. While I love the open source and easy to develop backend of Fat Free, I want to have the double entry accounting and management of QuickBooks for each customer.
With WordPress managing a front end, FatFree CRM managing my CRM, PayFlow Pro managing my payment processing and QuickBooks managing my bank account and bills, there is too much going on. Right now I am working on solving this problem and I will keep you updated, but if you have any ideas or thoughts, please let me know.

Writing is not what I have been good at, but growth sometimes involves frustration and sharpening the sword in areas that are not a strength. While I don’t yet have the clout to have a short Godin’esque post, I look forward to hearing your responses and thoughts.
